Finally RSS Chief Admits Brahmins Misled the Masses for Centuries
Something unthinkable happened on 5th February when the RSS Sarsangchalak, while delivering a speech on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sant Ravidas, claimed that the distinctions between people of different castes were created by Pandits based on their erroneous interpretation of the shastras.
According to Bhagwat, the notion of caste superiority is an illusion and a lie peddled by the pandits and should be set aside.
First, I would like to congratulate Mohan Bhagwat, a Brahmin, for having acknowledged that the wretched caste system is not a creation of Gods as claimed in Hindu shastras. Rather it was created by pandits aka Brahmins to maintain their hegemony over other varnas in the Hindu society.
For so many years, Brahmins have claimed the divine origin of the four varnas and are hence unchangeable no matter how much karma a person attains or loses during his lifetime. Since a person’s caste was ordained at birth, there was nothing he or she could do to change it.
Hence, a Brahmin had the birthright to lord over other castes while the Shudras (present-day Bahujans) were condemned to a life of humiliation and servitude no matter how hard they tried to overcome the disability ordained at birth.
For thousands of years, it has been drilled into the minds of every Indian that the caste system is sacrosanct and has to be followed without deviation. Manu went so far as to prescribe the most inhuman punishments to the lower caste in case they violated their caste rules.
Now finally, a Brahmin head of RSS, the self-proclaimed guardian of India’s culture, has acknowledged that his brethren have been peddling lies for so long and that these distinctions of caste are nothing but an illusion.
It remains to be seen whether his words will have any real impact on the actions and thoughts of millions of Indians who live and die as per the rigid caste rules set out for them.
It’s also the closest the Brahmins have come to seeking forgiveness for the divisions they have sown in Indian society for so long.
As expected, the RSS has already issued a clarification that Bhagwat was referring to some scholars in his speech and not the Brahmins. This is a lame effort to cover up one’s sins committed over thousands of years.
This is a funny dilemma for the RSS. On the one hand, they cannot publicly acknowledge that Brahmins are responsible for divisions in the Hindu society on the basis of caste but on the other hand, they need to integrate the Hindus by obliterating the distinctions of social hierarchies in order to realize the dream of Hindu Rashtra.
Till then, let’s enjoy another gaffe or should I say the calculated confusion created by Bhagwat.
