The Winners and Losers in Hindu Rashtra
Now that the Pran Prathistan or inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, built over the remains of the destroyed Babri Masjid, is complete, let’s take a look at the winners and losers of a possible Hindu Rashtra which this event is supposed to bring about in the near future.
But first, let’s remember Dr BR Ambedkar’s famous warning about Hindu Rashtra:
If Hindu Raj does become a fact, it will, no doubt be the greatest calamity for this country. No matter what the Hindus say, Hinduism is a menace to liberty, equality and fraternity. It is incompatible with democracy. Hindu Raj must be prevented at any cost.

Ambedkar is very clear about his thoughts on Hindu Rashtra; it will be nothing short of a calamity for India and it should be prevented at any cost from materializing.
However, as we know, the construction of the Ram Temple and presence of Mohan Bhagwat, the RSS Sarsangchalak, at the ceremony is an important precursor to the onset of Hindu Rashtra in place of a liberal, secular, and democratic republic.
You can gauge the hidden meanings in the speeches of Bhagwat, Modi and the other Hindutva votaries when they speak of Ram Rajya. Ram Rajya is possible only in a Hindu Rashtra, which is not run on secular, equalitarian, and democratic values enshrined in the present Constitution.
In the unfortunate event that Dr Ambedkar’s warning goes unheeded, who will be the eventual winners and losers in such a scenario? Let’s find out.
Winners in Hindu Rashtra
The most obvious winners when Ram Rajya or Hindu Rashtra is established will be the savarnas or twice born varnas that include the Brahmins, Kshatriyas, and the Vaishyas in that order.
The savarnas who are reeling under the double whammy of egalitarianism and affirmative action for the dalits and OBCs want to restore the society of yore when the country was engulfed under the fog of casteism, ignorance, superstition, and blind faith.
No wonder our educational institutions have been captured by the Right Wing forces and attempts at science, reasoning, free speech is bein actively muzzled at every level. More and more jobs are being contractualized or being done away with completely in the name of down sizing.
The lateral entry of executives at Joint Secretary and higher levels in the Civil Services bypasses the mandatory reservations for SC/ST and OBCs. Already, the presence of judges from the backward communities in the higher judiciary is abysmally low and this will further go down when Ram Rajya is established. This is because in Ram Rajya, rules of Manu will be applicable and not the Constitution of Ambedkar.
Now the question is what is the percentage of the winners in the future Hindu Rashtra? You would expect that the winners would constitute the majority of the population since the entire country appeared to be cheering at the prospect of Ram Rajya. Unfortunately, the winners will not exceed 15 percent of the population as the savarnas make up only this much of India’s population.
The remaining 85 percent will be the losers who will be again subject to servitude, humiliation, and poverty once Hindu Rashtra takes concrete shape. You can already witness the contours of the future society in the form of mob lynching of Muslims, and increasing atrocities committed against the dalits in many states.
But even among the winners, one category will eventually lose out in the long run. I will reveal this category later on. Now let’s turn our attention to the losers of Hindu Rashtra.
Losers in Hindu Rashtra
Unlike the winners who are solely caste-based, the losers in Hindu Rashtra will be multi-dimensional. The most obvious losers are the Muslims who constitute about 12 percent of the Indian population.
The construction of the Ram temple at Ayodhya on the ashes of the Babri masjid and the slogan mandir wahin banayenge rubs salt in the wounds of the Muslims. Today, the Muslims are under siege in most of the states, especially, the BJP ruled ones.
The value of a Muslim’s life is much lower than an animal’s, especially the cow, as is evident from the numerous mob lynching carried out over the past few years in the name of the holy cow.
Their way of life is being destroyed through economic boycott, ban on meat shops, razing their homes with bulldozers, ghettoizing the entire community so that they don’t get access to quality education, healthcare, and a hygienic and safe environment to live.
The Muslim is the convenient enemy portrayed by the Hindutva vadis to unite the backwards against the minority community and bring about the Hindu Rashtra, thus avenging centuries of Islamic rule in the country.
But targeting the Muslims is just the first stage of the plan set in motion by the RSS Brahmins. Once the musalman has been shown his place and relegated to second class citizenship, it will be the turn of the dalits.
The dalits, who constitute about 18 per cent of the population, will be the second major losers in the Hindu Rashtra. It is no secret that the RSS dislikes Ambedkar for the egalitarian, secular, and democratic Constitution drafted by him and the affirmative action (reservations) enshrined in the Constitution.
The savarnas cannot swallow the fact that reservations have enabled dalits, condemned to the most unclean professions in the varna system for centuries, to rise to the top in government jobs. They view the dalits as the usurper of their God-given right to lord over the bulk of resources in the society by virtue of their pre-eminent position in the Varna hierarchy.
For this reason, the dalit also has to be shown his place in Ram Rajya by snatching the rights and entitlement guaranteed by the present Constitution.
The third set of losers will be the non-Muslim religious minorities like the Christians. Although the RSS and BJP are trying to reach out to them in states like Kerala out of electoral compulsion, once Hindu Rashtra is established even they will be targeted in the name of conversions. Remember what happened to the Jesuit priest Graham Staines and his sons in 1999?
Fourthly, the OBCs, the foot soldiers of Hindutva who are celebrating Ram Rajya so fervently will also lose out in a post-democratic India. Remember that the Shudras were the service providers to the upper three varnas in the Brahmanical society.
And many of them are faithfully carrying out the bidding of their upper caste masters in the present day as well. In most of the violent communal or caste incidents, the perpetrators invariably are the OBCs. They are being indoctrinated with the philosophy of hate and false superiority by their savarna masters.
Isn’t it so ironical that these foot soldiers of Hindutva who will bring about Hindu Rashtra are the biggest gainers of post-mandal reservations? Without realizing the dangers of Hindu Rashtra, they are meekly following the directions of their traditional masters (savarnas) to bring about Ram Rajya that will obliterate every political, educational, and employment benefit which they gained in the post-Mandal India.
But there is one more category of losers in the future Hindu Rashtra, the upper caste women. Although they might be thinking that they have triumphed along with their men folk, they will lose out eventually. After all, the patriarchal varna society treated women no better then servants and were supposed to meekly carry out the bidding of their fathers and husbands without any disagreement.
They did not have access to education on par with the males and had zero access to employment opportunities. This is more true of upper caste women than lower caste women since the latter at least worked in fields alongside their men folk.
The upper caste women were forced to commit Sati when their husbands died and it is only after the efforts of Ram Mohun Roy and the British that this depraved practice was stopped. Such was their condition.
Now of course, the same situation that prevailed during the medieval times or dark ages will not be repeated here. But the women, especially the upper caste women, will face the wrath of the morality brigade in reference to their dressing, employment, behaviour, marriage and everything else.
You can see this in the case of love jihad where the goal is to protect the Hindu women and her sexuality from the Muslim predator. Even Hindu couples are not safe on Valentines day. Increasingly, the judiciary has started pronouncing absurd judgments calling upon women to behave in a particular way so as not to get raped!
Rationality, science, and reasoning will be the biggest casualties in the society that is emerging in India. After all, the Hindutva proponents want the masses to be so engrossed in superstition, religious dogmas, bling faith that they lose their ability to reason, to question authority whether of the political regime or the religious pontiffs who are all set to call the shots in the golden age of Hindu Rashtra.
Can India be saved from Hindu Rashtra
Perhaps it’s too late now. The ten years of Modi rule has shifted the momentum decisively in favour of Hindu Rashtra and going by the speeches of Bhagwat and Modi on January 22, it’s clear that the broad contours of this upcoming tragedy have already been drawn.
The upcoming Lok Sabha elections, where the BJP is aiming to win 400+ seats, will be the final blow to the secular, democratic, and liberal democracy enshrined in the Constitution and we may witness the appearance of a full blown Hindu Rashtra in all its ugliness soon after.
